100 Posts to Make Social Media More Valuable

Filed under: Uncategorized — doughaslam @ 6:55 am

My good friend Chris Brogan (on the left in the picture, with C.C. Chapman), who is not merely prolific in his online posting, but rarely wastes a word on the frivolous or the unthoughtful (like, for example, me), has given his blog,, a new focus.

Chris’ next 100 posts are specifically pointed to making our social media more valuable: what works for us? Why do we do what we do? How can we make it better?

Notice I said “we.” Notice I made up those questions in my words rather than parroting Chris. One thing he is doing is asking for guest submissions, and ideas for guest submissions, to make this series itself more valuable (suggestion #1: invite your friends to make you media more valuable). Also, in the spirit of late 2007/early 2008, expect many posts to be in non-text formats– audio, video– hey, why not cartoons or other modes of expression?

Chris is already off to a good start with a looonnng post (sorry Chris) on “People.” I can’t think of a better topic for post #1, for social networks are the people before they are anything else, including medium and content.

I have no idea what I might be contributing, if anything, but I will be reading. Please join me.
